Start Here

They call us late bloomers, as if we overslept the season or missed the memo. But the truth is, it took every detour, every wrong turn, every scraped knee and small triumph to get here. What’s blooming now isn’t late – it’s right on time, made from the full compost of a life well-lived and lessons hard-earned. This work didn’t come despite the delay, but because of it.

Breaking Hip isn’t about falls and fractures – it’s about freedom. The kind that sneaks in during life’s Act III, when the deadlines ease up, the kids are grown, and you finally have time to remember who you were before life got so loud. Or maybe even discover someone entirely new.

If that’s you – or someone you love – you’re in the right place. This isn’t a blog about aging. It’s a blog about becoming. About picking up the paintbrush, the piano, the pen, the knitting needles, or the courage to make something just because it speaks to you or brings you joy. No need to monetize it. No pressure to be brilliant. Just the quiet bravery of starting anyway.

We’re here for the slow blooms, the late starts, and the strange, beautiful stuff that happens when you stop trying to impress and start trying to express.

Welcome. Let’s begin, again.

Then go ahead and make something, anything. And, for bonus points, share it with me so I can put it on my internet fridge to share with your fellow Breaking Hippies. Like Barbara and Diana did.
