Introducing Hip Note Therapy

Rough week. But sometimes what we need isn’t silence, a lecture, a helping of guilt, a pep talk, or a 10-step plan. Sometimes all we need is a small line we can tuck away and pull out when the creativity spark feels further away than we’d like due to what may come our way.

That’s what this new column, Hip Note Therapy, is all about. Think of it as a little stash of pocket-sized inspiration boosts – short quotes that can provide a gentle nudge for your Act III project.

I’ve been collecting inspiring creativity quotes for a couple of decades. Every so often I’ll share one here: nothing long, nothing complicated. Just a reminder that even in the more challenging chapters of life, there’s still room for creativity, courage, and the kind of joy that sneaks up on you when you least expect it.

First one, The Well That Never Runs Dry, drops today.

Note from the Publisher

Breaking Hip is pleased to welcome a new member of the team. Dennis Agle joins the staff as an editorial intern (unpaid in monetary terms, but invaluable in some other terms that we haven’t quite worked out yet, but apparently cookies are the only non-negotiable). Dennis comes to us from a publishing company where he, if his resume is to be believed, wrote “pretty much” all the books and social media content for the last few years before taking a leave to address health issues. Along the way he developed a blog chronicling his health journey and efforts to “do creative stuff” under the pen name Eugene Dennis (no doubt Dennis and Eugene will spend the next hour debating this sentence in a futile effort to make it make sense and end up leaving as is). (Some suspect that Eugene Dennis has grown tired of the nom de plume lifestyle and is looking for a way to escape.)

New guy Dennis’s first assignment is to spearhead a new Breaking Hip column called Hip Note Therapy, which makes its debut today. Welcome aboard, Dennis.
